Maybe she didn't mean ALL the clothes, but *some* baby clothes definitely go out of style! I would be pretty embarassed to dress my baby in the lime green bellbottom jumpsuit with the red felt stop sign and bright yellow racing stripes down the side that my mom has saved from when my sisters and I was a baby. ;) Onesies and the like usually don't go out of style, however.

I think she puts too much emphasis on clothing styles, but some people are like that. Baby clothes do sometimes go out of style, but it takes a really long time normally. I put dresses on my daughter that my mother had put on me and they were really cute. If anyone said anything, it was just to say how pretty the dress was and where did I get it, lol! But if you see pictures of baby clothes like from 100 years ago or so, then yes you can see a difference. But it really takes a long, long time for most baby clothing to go 'out of style' so I would keep what you have like you planned.

I like my kids to be dressed in fairly 'in' clothes. I don't think that should be critisized as shallow. It is just a preference. My mom gave me clothes from when I was a baby. Honestly I put them on once for a picture. They just looked so out of date. I don't think that I should be judged as shallow for that. I am a single mom and until I am done my edcuation... I am on a very tight budget. I have been below the poverty line a few times. But I always pride myself in dressing my kids in style. We go to thrift stores and pick out clothes that look new and clean and in style. I feel very proud at not looking poor. I don't think that is shallow to want to look nice and be clean looking and in style.

Don't immediately think she's shallow. I mean, my mom gave me some of our baby clothes from when we were babies and I just didn't like the style of all of them. It doesn't make me shallow though. Its just my opinion. I didn't particularly want to dress my children in polyester jumpsuits from the 70's and wacky color combinations from the 80's. I just didn't like it. Now I'm a shallow mother because of it? Thanks a lot.

That being said, I doubt the "style" is gonna change that much between this baby and the next, so buying clothes today probably won't go out of style within the next 5 years. Still though, I don't think she was purposefully being rude or negative or "shallow". There are things I bought for my first son that I thought were sooooo cute. When I pulled it out 3 years later to put my youngest son in it, I couldn't help but think, "What was I thinking when I bought this?!" lol
